In the last month, I’ve reviewed quite a number of CVs. Most of them were going to be used to apply for jobs, and several had been used in the past. A CV is a really good place to start to get some idea about whether a person genuinely understands who they are and what they have to offer. And sadly, a CV often lets a person down.
Helping people write a CV that describes themselves in the most effective way is an important part of many of my client sessions. Over the years, I have seen hundreds of CVs, and I’ve observed many things that people get wrong when they write them. The most common mistakes fall into four main categories:
However, if you get these four things right, your CV will tick the boxes required to make it useful for you when you apply for jobs.
Does Your CV Need a Revamp?
This month is ‘CV Month’ at Career Clinic. This is a great opportunity for you to pull out your current CV, dust it off, and book in for a CV Review. In this one-hour session, I will review your CV and explain the changes you need to make so you have a Winning CV. After the session, you will receive a Summary Checklist of the key points giving you a list of the things you need to do to make your CV stand out from the crowd for all the right reasons.
To make it easy for you, you can book this session as either a face-to-face meeting or via Skype.
And as an incentive, if your CV gets a tick for every item on my checklist, and I can’t find anything you need to do to improve it, I will refund you the cost of the session. That sounds like a no-brainer.
